Today was spent getting ready for tomorrow's shin dig. I woke up and did laundry and called all the students in the Summer Bridge program for my school to let them know about the logistical information. After I did that I finally emptied all of my boxes that were left except for my school stuff I brought home - no need to unpack that when it is going straight to the new location in a few weeks. I treated myself to Dunkin Donuts - my fav - in the rain. Even with an umbrella I got soaked - it was worth it for sure. I relaxed and watched an episode of Wife Swap - a fav as well. After that I started on the brownies and the cheese ball. Giselle came over to keep me company and we lounged on the couch and chatted a bunch about school and work and kids and such. We started on the cookies when Steve came home. Steve put up the new painting we got - it looks awesome!!!
It turns out the brownies I made were super dry because I have never used this oven before - I was super pissed. And, like my mom, I can't stand to serve stuff that sucks, so I made a new batch sans nuts from a recipe I have never tried before. They are Katharine Hepburn's brownies and they are supposedly out of this world ... we will see. I finished the cheese ball and it looks really yummy.
No one can find Summer Sausage - WTF?! I have looked, Aunt Gail looked and so did Steve. I am going to stop by the cheese shop on our street and Trader Joe's tomorrow - if I can't find one I will cry.
I have a laundry list of shit to do tomorrow to prepare and get ready. I hope I have enough time to do it all. I did all the harder/more time consuming food prep today.
Steve is passed out on the couch watching football ... reminds me of my Dad.
I miss home and wish my mom, dad, brother and grandma among my friends from home could be here tomorrow ...
