Clean House ... Leaving for VT

I absolutely have some of my mom in me - I cleaned our apartment from top to bottom today ... we go out of town tomorrow. I want to come home to a clean house. I straightened up, did tons of laundry, did a ton of dishes, cleaned the bathroom, Steve vacuumed, and lots more.

We made these awesome beef tenderloins wrapped in bacon tonight. I also made rice with onions.

We did our packing for Vermont tonight - we literally could not be bringing more stuff - we have like 5 or 6 bags for 4 days ... UGHHH!!!

I am very excited to learn how to snowboard - and a little scared. I have almost all the gear I will need. I need to get ski/snow pants up there.

One of our friends is going to look in on the girls while we are away. It is going to suck being away from them. They were such lovers today snuggling with me when I was done cleaning.

I took down all our holiday decorations and tree today. I couldn't put away the "holiday" blanket I had to have from Target because Chloe-bear loves it so much!!!

Not sure if there will be a computer or internet in VT ... so, it might be Sunday before I write again!

Busy Day

Lindsay and I stayed up until either 1 or 2 am last night watching "Hoarders" and "Intervention". Haha. We were so grossed out by the people on the shows.

I woke up super early to go see Erica at Starbucks and to exchange Hanukkah gifts. It was so great to see her even if just for a little while. Then I met up with Lindsay and we went shopping and on errands. We had so much fun repeating the lines from "Hangover" over and over again. I helped Lindsay figure out how to make a stellar scrapbook page.

After a slight change of plans, I was driven into the city and had a hilarious ride in with Kathy, her daughter Sam and Aunt Gail. I had a meeting with a woman I work with and it was really great - we got a lot of stuff figured out now and I now have a more clear understanding of the next steps I need to be working on.

I was finally reunited with SLM and the babies this evening. We made venison and rice for dinner. I ate a red pepper and a half. I am addicted to cold, raw red peppers. We vowed to be healthier in 2010. We both need to loose a few pounds. Venison is one of the healthiest meats for you.

We watched the "Hangover" again. That movie never gets old and never stops being hilarious. OMG, it is so funny. The girls were so snuggly with us!!!

I have a ton of straightening up and cleaning to do before we leave for VT on Thursday!

Nighty night!

LI with Linds!!!!

Today was a good day. I woke up late to Isabelle starring at me wondering why I wasn't up yet for her shenangigans to begin. I woke up and she went nuts with Chloe chasing each other all over the apartment. I did laundry and then went into the city.

I met with another 6th grade math teacher who is now in the role of being the full lead teacher for math. We discussed how to organize a curriculum, classroom management, and how I basically run my class with lessons, projects and tests. I gave him a ton of resources and he was super grateful. We are going to meet up again in January to discuss his progress.

I took the LIRR into LI today to see Lindsay and the Trugmans!!! We stopped off at home and exchanged gifts for Hanukkah and then went to the store to get the rest of the ingredients to make baked clams - a fav of both of us! We had those and then some canolis that Kathy (Aunt Gail's friend) made - super delicious!!! We "rented" the Hangover from the TV and watched it - so funny - even after 30 times seeing it!!!

Tomorrow we are going shopping and to do some errands - I hope to find some ski/snow pants for VT - getting so excited!!!

I miss the kittens (and SLM) tonight :(

Baked Clams are YUM

Yesterday Steve and I went upstate to see his mom and dad. We first stopped off at his mom's for some delicious cheesecake pumpkin pie with bourbon whipped topping. It was super fantastic and she gave me some homemade soap - I am in heaven. We then went to his dad's house for dinner and to stay the night. His dad cooked up some pot roast, mashed potatoes and string beans ... he has turned into quite the cook. We had chocolate fudge cake for dessert. Marty Sr. bought a coffee maker just for us because he knows "how you both love your coffee" hahahaha.

On the way home today we stopped at the outlets to pick up some ski/snowboarding gear. It was soooo packed that Steve just dropped me off and went to get gas and I picked out jackets for us in less than 10 minutes. I guessed on sizes and colors and then we were out of there! I did a fantastic job if I do say so myself - everything fits and looks good!

Today, I made sugar/nut glazed brie cheese and crackers for myself and ate the entire slab of cheese because I am a fat cow. But, it was soooo delicious. Then, I made Aunt Gail's recipe of baked clams and put them in mini filo dough shells. They are super amazing and Dave and Giselle came over to enjoy with us. We decided that this would be my signature dish and that I will be making it when we are up in VT for New Year's. I am also making these tomorrow night for Lindsay :) My signature dessert is either coffee cake or mint brownies in case you are wondering haha.

Merry Christmas!

I know it's been awhile. We have been spending the past couple of months working and hanging with the girls - Isabelle and Chloe. We bought a fake Christmas tree from Target right after Thanksgiving and put it up. It looked amazing for about 2 days. The girls figure out how to climb up it and sit/break the branches. They also figured out how to take the ornaments off and bat them around the apartment. We would wake up to tons of little red ornaments strewn all over the apartment. The branches now droop and look pathetic, and under our couch there must be 10-15 ornaments.

I made too many cookies this year for Steve. He ate a lot of them. We decorated the apartment with a lot of candles and little trinkets. I also got two red blankets that are very festive. Isabelle and Chloe enjoyed my blankets more than I did - they slept on them every chance they got.

We had Christmas Dinner last night - Twice Baked Potatoes and Steak. Steve had beets and I had red peppers (I loooooove red peppers). The steak had way too much seasoning on it and was salty and peppery - I now know how to make steak better for next time. Tonight we will have little appetizers and drinks. We will have little hot dogs in bbq sauce and wrapped in crescents, little bake clams, meatballs, brie cheese (Mike's mom's recipe), and veggies.

We opened gifts today! We bought the girls little cubes and a tunnel that connects them to play with and it is a major hit. They love it so much! They chase each other through it and wrestle in it. Steve and I got each other a lot of little stocking stuffers and some gifts. Steve got me new UGG boots, diamond earrings, teaching stuff, make up, and nail polish. I got Steve a very nice dressy going out shirt, candies, funky socks, underclothes, t-shirts, a comfy shirt, and then getting him glasses in January when his insurance will be active for the new year.

Christmas wasn't the same not being home. I am sure that my family is just getting up and opening gifts. I really hope they all like the gifts this year. I went through hell getting Brendan's gift and Dad got what he wanted lol and with Mom's gift - I had it picked out when Brendan came to visit - I saw it and knew. I hope she likes it :)

I am absolutely going to be better about posting and sharing pictures. I will be sending out Christmas cards next year.

We will be upstate from Saturday until Sunday and I won't be able to post.

Here are so me pics from the past couple of months. The kitty pics are for my Mom and Malaina and Sky. :) Enjoy!!!
